Hi and Welcome! In addition to holding a Masters Degree in Acting from New York University, I have been a professional working actor for over 30 years and have been fortunate to work on Broadway, Off-Broadway, in television and film. I teach Acting to all ages and skill levels, as well as Singing Performance (focuses on the 'story" of the song, not technique). Whether you are pursuing acting as a profession or not, the benefits of theater training can be profound on many levels. We humans love to play. We love stories. I encourage fellow actors to be confident, joyful, and fearless with their creativity. I teach emotional literacy, empathy, and the value of failing well and often. I inspire actors to build their own "arsenal" of tools that will serve you throughout your creative life. For professionals, I am happy to work on audition material, monologues, and scenes. For young artists, I am thrilled to work on auditions for BFA programs, scholarships, summer intensives, and more.
About Ashley
In addition to holding an MFA in Acting from New York University, I have been fortunate to work in theater (Broadway, Off- Broadway), television (Heroes, Everybody Loves Raymond, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, Secret Circle, Law and Order, among others), and in film, including Steven Spielberg's Mino

As an actor for 14 years who became an award-winning director and screenwriter, I have a particularly well-rounded perspective on acting. My belief is that anyone can act, if given the right tools, and I have a proven track record -- actors who work with me are presently booking major roles in film and television. My philosophy is that acting is about exploring yourself -- who you really are as a human being -- and having confidence in that unique individual's perspective on the character. We will also use my expertise on the other side of the camera to explore how to work with directors, as well as the writer's viewpoint on the larger story. I look forward to setting your talents loose on the world!
About Zach
My work as an acting coach speaks for itself. Just in the past several months alone, actors I work with have booked their first jobs as a recurring guest star in a primetime television series, a lead in a Lifetime movie, roles on two Netflix drama series, and a major guest star on an Amazon original

Stella Adler, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, and Meisner Acting Technique for Theatre/Camera is taught in private and group classes. All students are exposed to each technique and Rachel sees which technique each student responds to the most. Once the student and Rachel are able to identify the technique, Rachel continues to use the terminology of that technique for the remainder of the time the student is in lessons. Students eventually are able to play roles truthfully and realistically, even if the roles are opposite of the student's own personality.

As an actress of 19 years, I love teaching my students the art of telling a story. I started my training in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts program, following on to Interlochen Arts Academy and eventually private training in Los Angeles. I have credits in regional theater, television (Netflix's Dear White People, The CW's Worst Birthday Ever, TruTV's Adam Ruins Everything), countless national commercials, and more. Together, we will explore several different methods including Meisner, Stanislavsky, Boleslavsky, imagining, and more, to create your own unique method. I can't wait to start this journey with you. In your first few lessons, we'll assess your goals, learn how to break down a script, and choose an acting method to start with. As we go on, we will build a repetoire of monologues and scenes for you to use, develop career trajectory targets, and develop your own personal approach to the art of storytelling. I can't wait to start this journey with you!

Whether you're preparing to perform in an improv show, on the theatrical stage, for the small screen, or on the big screen, learning new techniques and honing your skills with a professional acting teacher can help you make it big.

In private lessons, your acting tutor can introduce you to new acting methods that will enhance your performance and help you discover the acting techniques that work best for you.
Why Learn
How to Act?
If you know you love drama, then of course you'll find several reasons to sign up for lessons. There're also plenty of reasons why learning to act is good for everyone — even people who don't aspire to be on stage or on screen. If you're a non-acting member of the film or theater industry, you can still benefit from taking lessons. Producers, writers, directors, agents, and managers all have something to gain by learning about acting. These classes give non-acting industry professionals key insights into the actor's world and responsibilities, while also improving your communications with actors.
Other types of performers, such as dancers and vocalists, can also benefit from learning to act. They'll learn to infuse their performances with drama and emotion. They'll also improve their use of the stage and connection with their audiences.
Outside of performance, everyone can benefit from learning to act. Acting lessons can make you more self-aware and get you in touch with your emotions, desires, and motivations. Plus, you'll improve your confidence and public speaking skills.
The Best Way to Learn How to Act and What You'll Study in Lessons
Although it's easy to find free acting classes and tutorials online, the best way to learn and improve fast is by studying with a private acting teacher. No two private lessons are exactly alike. For example, acting classes for children feature different course content and teaching methods than acting lessons for adults. Plus, your teacher will customize course content to keep you motivated and interested. You'll study the repertoire and type of acting that excites you most and overcome challenges quickly, while learning at a pace that's comfortable for you.
Sample Curriculum for Beginner Acting
If you have little to no previous experience acting, then beginner lessons are for you! You'll learn strategies to improve your stage presence, line delivery, and emotional expression, while working on scenes you love. To introduce you to the basics of acting, your teacher might cover the following topics:
- Practice monologues and short scenes
- Learn to use your nerves
- Introduction to method acting
- Try out cold readings
Sample Curriculum for Intermediate Acting
If you have some previous experience acting and would like to work on taking your skills to the next level with immediate, personalized feedback, then intermediate lessons are for you! In these classes, you'll develop and hone new skills, as you learn to inhabit increasingly complex characters and roles, while focusing on the type of performances that interest you most. Your teacher might cover the following topics:
- Improve line memorization and delivery
- Study classical acting
- Learn various acting methods and systems: Stanislavski's System, Lee Strasberg Method, Meisner Technique, etc.
- Develop your improv techniques
- Learn to tap into your emotions
Sample Curriculum for Advanced Acting
Advanced acting classes are intended for students who're out there trying to make a living as an actor or actress. In these courses, you'll have the opportunity to work with a professional acting coach to improve your chances of landing parts that are right for you. The topics covered in advanced lessons really depend on each student's individual goals, interests, and the type of acting they're pursuing, but your advanced acting tutor might cover the following topics:
- Extend your range and challenge yourself playing unlikely parts
- Learn your way around the business
- Land more gigs with professional audition coaching
- Nail your part with structured performance preparation
