If you've ever experienced a performance of "The Nut Cracker" or "Swan Lake," then you've been enchanted by the magic of ballet. When a beautifully costumed dancer glides across the stage, pirouettes, or performs a lift so seemingly effortlessly that it looks like they're moving through butter, the audience can't help but admire the strength, grace, and perfected art that makes up the core of ballet.
Ballet first originated as a form of performance dance during the 15th century Italian Renaissance. Later, in Russia and France, the dance form developed into a type of concert dance. Today, people dance ballet around the world. It's evolved into a highly technical form of dance, described with its own French-based terminology.
Why You Should Learn Ballet
Many start
learning ballet because they dream of being like the danseurs (dancers) they see on stage in a professional ballet performance. Whether you join a ballet company and dance professionally or not, you'll benefit from learning ballet. There're are plenty of reasons why ballet dancing is a worthwhile pursuit.
Learning ballet can improve the other styles of dance you study. Classically trained dancers usually stand out (for good reasons) because of the basics, like great posture and alignment, which ballet stresses. If you love contemporary jazz or even hip hop dancing, then a few ballet classes could help you improve your technique.
Ballet is also very healthy. You'll strengthen your muscles, exercise your heart, improve your posture, and increase your flexibility. These physical effects of ballet are good for dancers of every age and every ability. Learning ballet is a great way to get in shape and stay physically fit.
The Best Way to Learn Ballet and What You'll Practice in Ballet Classes

Plus, every personal class is different. Teachers fully customize course content to meet each student's needs, with subject matter tailored to your learning level, age, and interests. For example, ballet lessons for children differ greatly from ballet classes for adults, in terms of teaching methods and content.
