As an actor for 14 years who became an award-winning director and screenwriter, I have a particularly well-rounded perspective on acting. My belief is that anyone can act, if given the right tools, and I have a proven track record -- actors who work with me are presently booking major roles in film and television. My philosophy is that acting is about exploring yourself -- who you really are as a human being -- and having confidence in that unique individual's perspective on the character. We will also use my expertise on the other side of the camera to explore how to work with directors, as well as the writer's viewpoint on the larger story. I look forward to setting your talents loose on the world!
About Zach
My work as an acting coach speaks for itself. Just in the past several months alone, actors I work with have booked their first jobs as a recurring guest star in a primetime television series, a lead in a Lifetime movie, roles on two Netflix drama series, and a major guest star on an Amazon original

Private Film Acting Lessons Near You
Some of the most famous actors and actresses are well-known because of their roles in film. In film acting, you have the ability to reach a much larger audience and participate in the creation of art that'll last forever and be enjoyed by generations to come.
While a love of cinema inspires many to act, others find their passion for acting in the school theater. As a result, students learn to act for a theater audience, rather than for a camera. Although it might seem like a subtle difference, stage acting is quite different from film acting. Those who aspire to land parts in commercials, television shows, or films need to practice acting on a set with an audience that's on the other side of a camera.
Why Learn to Act and Study Film Acting?
If you can breakthrou
gh into the industry, then film acting can provide you with one of the most lucrative careers in acting. You'll have opportunities to appear in commercials, audition for roles on television sitcoms or dramas, or even star in a full-length feature. If you dream of being in front of a camera, rather than on stage, then film acting lessons are essential.
In film acting, your audience has a much closer perspective on your performance than what's experienced in stage acting. As a result, it's essential that film actors learn how to control all of their subtler actions and expressions during a scene because everything is visible to the audience. Film acting classes will help you learn how to perform with subtle, realistic expressions and gestures that feel natural to a close-up audience.
The Best Way to Learn Film Acting and What You'll Study in Lessons
Of course, you can find plenty of free film acting classes and tutorials online, but the best way to learn is by studying with a private film acting teacher. In private lessons, you'll receive your tutor's undivided attention and the kind of personalized instruction that simply isn't available in online videos or larger class settings. You'll improve quickly with immediate feedback, while learning at the pace that's comfortable for you.
Plus, every private acting lesson is different. Teachers customize each class with the student's interests, previous experience, and preferred learning styles in mind. For example, film acting lessons for adults differ greatly in terms of teaching style and course content from film acting classes for children. You'll stay motivated and interested, while you work on the types of scenes and characters that most interest you.
Sample Curriculum for Beginner Film Acting
If you have little or no experience with film acting, then beginner lessons are for you. In these classes, your film acting tutor will introduce you to the basics of acting for a camera. You'll be introduced to a variety of acting techniques and strategies to improve your performance. Your teacher might cover the following topics:
- Learn to relax and ignore the camera
- Learn how to hit your marks
- Introduction to on-set lingo
Sample Curriculum for Intermediate Film Acting
If you've had a little experience with film acting, but would like to expand your range of talents, then intermediate lessons are for you. In these classes, you'll learn new techniques and challenge yourself to perform increasingly complex characters and roles. Your teacher might choose to cover some of the following topics:
- Work on subtle expressions and emotions
- Learn how to act naturally while acting
- Letting the camera come to you
Sample Curriculum for Advanced Film Acting
If you're already quite experienced in film acting, then advanced lessons are for you. In these courses, you'll have the opportunity to work with a professional film acting instructor to improve your technique, hone your skills, and even prepare for a challenging role. Subjects covered in advanced lessons depending greatly on the student's individual interests and goals, but your teacher might choose to cover the following topics:
- Access your emotions for entering hot scenes cold
- Audition coaching
- Performance preparation
