I was a science teacher at the high school and college level before I got sick and had to leave the classroom. Suffering from autoimmune issues for the past fifteen years, I set out to find healing on the yoga mat and through other lifestyle changes. My approach to teaching is a combination of clear, concise, easy-to-understand instruction from years of experience as a science teacher in a classroom, concern with safety and compassion and caring from dealing with a chronic illness most of my adult life. By the way, I love to smile. My joyful approach to teaching is quite infectious in a good way. I now use Gentle Somatic Yoga which is appropriate for anyone with chronic pain to help release muscle tension and create greater ease of movement. I can work with anyone -- whether you are chair-bound or a young person who needs to learn to relax and release stress.

The Alexander Technique is taught in colleges throughout the world. This time-tested method for improving posture and musical freedom is worth the time to study. Increase your ease with your instrument and increase the longevity at the piano (or with whatever instrument you play). Vocalists, as well, gain immeasurably by learning the Alexander Technique.

I have developed a natural teaching method that focuses on learning and understanding the building blocks of drum set playing, familiarizing and connecting these building blocks, and applying them to individual expression. I have the ability to take nearly anyone without prior drum set or rhythmic experience, and, within days, turn them into beat playing drummers! My approach focuses on:
-building an understanding and relationship with each drum
-the basic rudimentary foundation of drumming
-how to approach the drums, hold the sticks, set up the drums, and tune the drums
-basic mechanical techniques
-development of each limb
-learning how to read basic drum charts and play to them
-learning and playing the most significant beats and patterns in the history of drum set
-gaining the ability to effectively teach oneself how to improve as a drummer
-learning your favorite songs on drums
-how to play in a band

I hold a Swedish Bachelor and Masters degree from Uppsala University (Sweden). I am fluent in Swedish, not just the language, but also the culture, geography, history, politics, etc. I have lived 10+ years in Sweden. I have 25+ years teaching experience. I am the school principal at River Tech Elementary.
