We will learn the very basic mechanics of how to paint with watercolors. We will explore different techniques in watercolor painting, including washes, wet in wet work, and glazing. There will be practice exercises each lesson that then will be applied to a painting. Working in this beautiful medium is fun and rewarding. My lessons and classes are designed for the beginner just getting comfortable with watercolor, as well as the intermediate painter.
About Karen

At the beginning of each class , she starts with a helpful lesson on watercolor techniques and then she has us proceed to working on our paintings. . She has a pleasant personality and provides the
right amount of instruction and encouragement.
Because of COVID, our classes had to go virtual, but she has managed online teaching very well. She even purchased an additional camera, so that we can clearly see the technique she is demonstrating to us.

Private Watercolor Painting Lessons Near You
Composed of pigments suspended in water-based paints, watercolors are one of the most popular forms of painting both for beginning and professional artists. These paints deposit lovely, yet delicate hues on a variety of surfaces and have an impressive range of potential when it comes to creating depth and lightness in a work of art. Plus, they're great for landscapes, still life paintings, and portraits.
If you’re interested in introducing yourself to the art of watercolor painting or expanding on the skills you already have, TakeLessons can help. We offer all kinds of art sessions, including basic watercolor painting lessons for beginners as well as more advanced lessons for students already familiar with this art form. Whether you’re looking to learn the basics or master more
complex techniques, our watercolor painting lessons will put you on the path toward success.
Why Learn Watercolor Painting?
Like other forms of painting, painting with watercolors imparts a variety of brain and health benefits. It inspires creativity and also induces deep relaxation. This type of stress relief is important for both your mental and physical well-being. The act of creating artwork can also help you express yourself, boost your confidence, improve your problem-solving skills, and even enhance your memory!
Aside from the positive mental and emotional benefits, painting can open up a world of opportunities. For example, you might find that watercoloring is your passion, and you’d like to pursue a career selling your artwork or teaching others to create masterpieces. Or perhaps it’s a hobby that you begin to love, and you’ll find pleasure in painting gifts for your friends and family or making art collections for yourself.
The Benefits of Taking Basic Watercolor Painting Lessons
We get it—learning a new skill can be intimidating. For example, maybe the students in your class are at a more advanced level than you, or perhaps your teacher moves at a pace that’s too fast for you to keep up. You might even feel nervous about asking questions or spending too much time on one subject.
That’s why we offer private watercolor painting lessons to all our students. We strive to remove all those barriers and boundaries so that you can learn in an environment that is most conducive to your learning style. Your private teacher will work with you one-on-one, providing you with individualized attention so that you can focus on what you need in order to succeed.
During your private lessons, you get to call the shots, choose the pace, ask all your questions, and work on the subjects that interest you most. With your tutor’s help, guidance, and support, you will be crafting watercolor masterpieces before you know it!
